Dr. Kaufman founded Woodlands Eye Associates in 1976. He provides comprehensive eye examinations and is Certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. Dr. Kaufman is also an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. He holds a B.S. degree in biology from Western Illinois University, and a B.S. degree and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston. While serving in the Air Force, Dr. Kaufman managed eyecare for pilots with specialized aviation needs. He has continued to provide aviation vision care in his private practice to patients who are both commercial and private pilots. He served in the Air Force as a hospital-based optometry officer and was an instructor of contact lenses at the University of Houston. He has served as past president of the CISD Board and as board member. In 2007, Kaufman Elementary in Imperial Oaks, was named in his honor.
